History and Leadership

CultureSense International, Inc. is a cross-cultural training and consulting firm specializing in developing customized solutions for individuals and organizations engaged in global business and international higher education.  Our mission is to provide education and assistance that will encourage and facilitate cross-cultural understanding.  CultureSense International, Inc. began as the “culture” component of The Global Institute of Languages and Culture, Inc. and became an independent corporation in 1999.

Jorge M. Herrera, DBA is the co-founder and CEO of CultureSense International, Inc. and Amistad. He served as Vice-President of The Global Institute of Languages and Culture, Inc.  Dr. Herrera has held positions in higher education as an administrator and faculty member focusing on International Business, Cross-Cultural Management, Adult and Continuing Education, and Business Ethics.

Dr. Herrera specializes in customized training programs for international business and management, and business ethics.  These programs include cross-cultural communication, managing across cultures, expatriate and repatriation training, cross-cultural business ethics, and international human resources.  Dr. Herrera consults on cross-cultural management, expatriation and repatriation of global employees, and business ethics.

Susan W. Herrera, Ph.D. is the co-founder and President of CultureSense International, Inc. and the co-founder of Amistad.  She currently serves all the President of Amistad.  Dr. Herrera is also the Founder and President of Hands for Hope, Inc., a social entrepreneurship venture. She was the founder, President and CEO of The Global Institute of Languages and Culture, Inc. for 12 years. In addition, Dr. Herrera has held leadership positions in international higher education administration, and professional leadership development.

Dr. Herrera specializes in customized training programs for international higher education and business, focusing on academic leadership, faculty development, business leadership, and evaluating and assessing global learning outcomes.   These programs include cross-cultural communication, global leadership, managing across cultures, and internationalizing the curriculum.  Dr. Herrera conducts custom-designed expatriate cross-cultural training for employees and families being transferred throughout the world, and into the United States.  Dr. Herrera consults on international education, internationalizing the curriculum, cross-cultural communication, social entrepreneurship, and language development and training.
